The new uniform and practice gear needed to provide comfort, support, and functionality for the high-energy routines, all while maintaining a polished, confident aesthetic. Interwoven Design developed the idea of a “cheer closet” and created a capsule collection of high-performance garments; nine silhouettes that could be mixed and matched by individual team members as they desired. These silhouettes included a crop top, sports bras, a track jacket, a unitard, a skirt, leggings, and boy shorts in a range of branded colorways.

A key innovation of the project was sourcing a breathable, moisture-wicking fabric that resists color changes from perspiration, ensuring the garments maintain their fresh appearance no matter how strenuous the performance. Integrating a high-performance perforated textile further improved breathability and created textural interest in the garments. The athletic construction of the apparel includes internal support features and strategically placed fabrics, enhancing comfort and fit while allowing for unrestricted movement. The modern design aesthetic features clean lines, high-contrast details in the Miami Dolphins’ signature colors, and sleek styling that reflect the dual roles of the cheerleaders as both athletes and spokespeople.

The project began with a deep dive into the cheerleaders' needs and requirements as well as their garment preferences, ensuring the uniforms and practice gear could withstand the physical demands of their routines while providing lasting comfort. Interwoven worked closely with the squad to ensure that each component of the closet would pair effortlessly with the rest while serving the game and practice needs of the team.

Our design inspiration drew heavily from the vibrant city of Miami, particularly its iconic Art Deco architecture. We reimagined the traditional Miami Dolphins colors by incorporating bright pastels, creating a palette that pays homage to the city's rich history while infusing a fresh, modern twist. The influence of Miami's surf culture is evident in our design, with style lines reminiscent of wetsuits that strike a balance between professionalism and athleticism. A collaborative, iterative design process enabled us to refine each piece to meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

The final collection successfully blended performance fabrics with modern aesthetics, elevating the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders' wardrobe with a clean, vibrant look. The concept of a "cheer closet" allowed each team member to personalize her appearance while maintaining a cohesive team identity. A complementary makeup kit was designed to tie in the strategic collection colors, allowing the cheerleaders to create a comprehensive look. The collection emphasized that these women are incredible athletes as well as advocates for the Miami Dolphins brand, capturing their strength, grace, and individuality. Each piece in the collection supports their athletic feats while ensuring they look polished and confident both on and off the field.
